ilo 1GB MP3 Player

ilo 1GB MP3 Player orangeCool gadget alert!

If you’re looking to get into the world of MP3 players (I was late to the game, I admit), I can now personally recommend this nifty little ilo MP3 player from Wal-Mart.

So here are the product details with my commentary (because I love to make commentary!) in bold italic - which is quite ugly, I might add, but I think you can at least see what the marketing people wrote vs. what I wrote.

  • Slim, compact digital audio MP3 player - it’s cute too!
  • 1 GB storage capacity - mmm a yummy gigabyte
  • Stores up to 480 songs - I will never have time to add that many
  • Perfect companion for working out or sports activities with sport design with rubber grip - working out? yeah, or just listening while vacuuming, ’cause ya can
  • Includes case and armband for protection and accessibility - case! armband!
  • Solid state memory for skip free playback - no skips here
  • Simple and intuitive menus for navigation and customizing your player - yeah the menus rock
  • FM tuner with 20 presets and recording capability to record your favorite radio programs - if you’re into FM, ok
  • Easy to use Voice Recording feature - i recorded. it worked.
  • Up to 16 hours of battery life on one AAA alkaline battery - haven’t timed it, but this does seem about right
  • Supports easy drag and drop song transfer from your PC - there is a learning curve if you’re new to players in general, but it’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it
  • SD/MMC memory expansion slot (up to 1GB)
  • USB 2.0 connection for hi-speed music transfers
  • Screen display is black LCD with white lettering and a white backlight - again, cute! woo!
  • Comes with 12 pre-loaded tracks - ugh, they SUCK! delete immediately!

The price is decent, and the player comes with 10 free music downloads from walmart.com, which is a nice little bonus.

One word of caution: THIS PLAYER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ITUNES! I repeat, THIS PLAYER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ITUNES! Once more, for the record: THIS PLAYER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ITUNES!

So don’t go buy one and then yell at me, k?

No iTunes was no biggie for me, as I use Wal-Mart for music downloads anyway.

Did I mention they come in purdy colors?

And you can check out the great selection of tunes available for download right here:

Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC

Price: $69.84
Available (in multiple colors) from Wal-Mart.com

I use one of these daily, i didn’t like the ear buds, (i never have like ear buds anyway), but i bought diffrent headphones and i love it. It is not rechargable, but a battery will last me about 18hrs. Thats not bad at all. Get one, there great.

My hubby didn’t like the ear buds either, so he got some headphones, and I took over the ear buds to use with my laptop.

Waitaminute… you ARE my hubby! lol

EL ILO QUE YO COMPRE ES UNA PORQUERIA Y QUIERO VER SI ME HACEN VALIDA LA GARANTIA EN EL WALMART

wow, i’m behind… my mp3 player is a Diamond RIO that i got as a free give-away for being one of the first 50 people to reply to an ad back in 2000 (as in Y2K) and it has a whopping 16mb of storage and some kind of expansion card slot that i’ve never had a card for… it also has to the same 14 songs that i loaded on it back then.

here’s a very rough translation of oswaldo’s post, for the espanol impaired:

“THE ILO THAT I BOUGHT IS A FILTH AND I WANT TO SEE IF THEY MAKE TO ME THE GUARANTEE VALID IN THE WALMART”

i haven’t used the ilo mp3 player in quite a while now, since i quit going to “work out”. now, i’m too busy “working” for any sort of fun. hubby says it still works great. i’m sure it’s obsolete by now, with technology moving at the speed of light. lol

I got my ilo 256Mb mp3 player about 2 years ago. It worked pretty well for a while and then erased itself =(. I lost the software disk that came with it so I couldn’t do much about it. I finally dug it up about a week ago and I really would like to use it again. I was wondering if you knew of anywhere that I could get a new disk? It would be much apprecitated. =)

I got an ILO for Christmas. Today is Jan 19 and I turn it on and it says searching files. It froze on me. I’ve VERY angry cause I loved it. Plus my nephew got one and his only worked the day of C-mas. I need to know what to do!!

  9. JIM on February 3rd, 2007 5:08 pm

I bought 2 of these for my kids for christmas last year. they have both broke THESE ARE JUNK!!!

  10. csbrewfisher on February 5th, 2007 10:09 am

Be very careful with these. Do not bump the edge switches on things, and treat them like they will break easily, because they will. I just repaired one of the volume switches, part of the rocker pair.

The switches are surface-mount without any structural reinforcement. That means that every time you hit a switch, you’re applying shear force against the four micro-dots of solder.

It’s a poor execution of questionable design, but whaddya expect for $50?

wow. apparently people are NOT happy with these mp3 players. ours is still working great, but i wonder now if that trend will continue. thanks all for the feedback.

  16. Brendan on April 26th, 2007 9:25 pm

I got one of these players for my girlfriend in november of 06… she lives in brazil in the tropics without a/c and it still works great for her. personally I think they have a lot of features for not much money which includes the card slot that can be loaded with the new 4 gig cards giving you a total of 5 gigs of music. The player can creat a multitude of playlists based on singer, album or genre and you get the radio and voice recoder…. seems to me it does a lot more then an ipod for a lot less money, we are very happy with it.

  17. Donna on July 22nd, 2007 8:16 pm

I loaded some music on a friends ilo by copy and paste with my itunes BEFORE I knew that I couln’t do that. NOW the player won’t play and I can’t delete anything from it. What do I do now??????????
    Thanks,
    Donna

  26. Daniel on March 14th, 2008 7:11 pm

This is the worst thing I have bought for $100.00! I bought it at Walmart a couple of months back. Maybe 14 months ago. Well, for one, I was stupid and bought the player and then bought my computer. WORST MOVE EVER! Well, the next week I was on the Internet, and I went to the Walmart site, and the player was on sale for like 30 bucks! (I had bought the player a week earlier for $100.00 total with tax and I think a pack of batteries to go along with the player) Well I had dropped it a couple times, once really bad. That was the first problem. The buttons were stuck inward, but they popped out, no big deal, really. Well just the last week I was in class listening to the player, and it wouldn’t turn off!!! I had to take the battery out and I put it away. Well the next day I got it out and it wouldn’t turn on! I took/popped the power button out and got out the nasty gunk in it out and it still wouldn’t turn on!!!!! GRRRR…! IT’S BROKEN NOW (WON’T TURN ON) AND THE BATTERY IS FINE! THIS IS THE WORST THING I HAVE BOUGHT FOR $100.00. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR IF ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY PROBLEMS AND WHAT THEY WERE. -AND YES, THE WARRENTY IS UP. THE WARRENTY ONLY LASTED 90 DAY (3 MONTHS). THE PLAYER IS A PECIE OF JUNK AND NO ONE SELLS THEM ANYMORE, AND I CAN HARDLY FIND IT ON THE INTERNET! OVERALL I GIVE IT 1 AND 1/2 STARS. IT’S A STUPID PECIE OF JUNK!!!!!! -PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR INPUT AND ANY PROBLEMS YOU–(R)/FAMILY/FRIEND/etc. HAD WITH THIS THING.

Got something to say?
