Thumbs Up for The ThumbSaver
September 18, 2006
Recently I had the pleasure of testing this new product from FW Tools in Tennessee. The ThumbSaver is one of those things that makes you say, “why didn’t I think of that?!”

My IKEA Hacks
September 18, 2006
I may have mentioned here before how much a fan I am of “the” IKEA… I may have mentioned it a lot.An IKEA-related site I stumbled upon recently has really become a favorite of mine. Jules runs the fantabulous IKEA hacker site - a blog featuring cleverly “hacked” items from IKEA. We exchanged emails recently, and I told her that I have a few hacks planned - because I do - but then I realized later that I have already hacked! Sure, these don’t compare to some of the ingenious ideas that you can find over at IKEA hacker, but they are hacks nonetheless.

For artists & collectors: The ABCs of ATCs and ACEOs

Big title for a small piece of art!
Art cards are small format, miniature works of art. They are paintings, drawings, collages, handmade prints, altered art, assemblages… they come in most any medium, in any style, from anywhere in the world. And they all have only one thing in common… art cards are 2.5″ x 3.5″ (64 x 89 mm) in size, just like baseball (and other sports) cards.

Instructables: Step-by-Step Collaboration
September 5, 2006
Looking for something to do this weekend? Have you done so much around the house that you’re out of DIY projects? Want to know how to make something weird, odd, or unusual?
You can find solutions to any of the above at the brilliant Instructables.com, an interactive repository of inspired do-it-yourself projects.
Projects include step-by-step photos and instructions, and many photos, like those on Flickr, have “hot spots”, where the author has added commentary to describe something in the photo in detail. (Well, at least I call them hot spots. They probably have some cool Web 2.0 savvy nickname that I’m not familiar with yet.)
The Instructables site is easy to navigate, and easy to use. Find projects by keywords, most recent, groups, or search for specific projects. Create an account, and submit your own instructables projects.
The Cupcake Courier
September 5, 2006

Well, someone’s done it. Someone has finally invented a way to transport cupcakes! No messy icing all over aluminum foil, and no smashing and smushing up all of your hard decorating work.
And wouldn’t you know it - the Cupcake Courier was invented by a mom. Jennifer Gunn, mother of two in southern Cali, invented the Cupcake Courier after getting fed up with all of the cupcake carrying caveats we all know and loathe.
I have to tell you, I do not actually have one of these in my hot little hands yet, but I’m on it. Look at the features the Cupcake Courier has to offer:
- Holds three stackable cupcake trays
- Each tray holds 12 cupcakes
- Made of rectangular, translucent plastic
- Comfortable handle
- Four bottom latches that hold the base securely
- Carry/store up to 36 cupcakes or muffins
- Trays are removeable, so the courier doubles as a cake holder
I hope to have one soon, so we can offer a more detailed product review, but the Cupcake Courier certainly looks like something to get excited about!
